Lori Houlihan will become an external member of the Standards Committee.
Lori will join the committee from 1 January 2019. She is Vice-Provost at University College London (UCL) and has lots of experience working in education and fundraising. This includes 5 years as Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations at UCL, where she oversaw one of the largest fundraising and supporter engagement campaigns in Europe.
Lori is also Trustee of Large CASE Washington DC and the Film and Television Charity, Chair of the Ross Group and Board Member of the Higher Education Working Group, 30% Club.
The Standards Committee oversees the development of the Code of Fundraising Practice and the guidance that relates to it, in consultation with fundraisers and donors. It maintains fundraising standards by making sure they reflect current fundraising practices, changes to relevant legislation and the expectations of the public.
Lori Houlihan said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the Fundraising Regulator Standards Committee, who work so hard to uphold transparency and accountability in the fundraising sector. Higher Education has its own fundraising characteristics and I’ll be ensuring that these are reflected in developing the standards for UK fundraisers.”
Suzanne McCarthy, Chair of the Fundraising Regulator Standards Committee, said: “We are delighted to welcome Lori to the Fundraising Regulator Standards Committee. She is a valuable addition, who brings a wealth of committee and fundraising experience. We look forward to her joining in the new year and enhancing the range of sector experience on the Committee.”
