How to complete the consultation
- There are no required questions in the consultation. You can submit comments to the ones that you are interested in. You can save your comments and go back to them later.
- When you are happy with your comments on any section you can press submit.
- If you have evidence you would like us to consider, you can attach this at the bottom of each page.
- Once complete, you will automatically receive a copy of your responses.
Where to start
We suggest that everyone starts by looking at Part A which gives an overview of the consultation. You can then move on to Parts B, C, and any sections in Part D that you are interested in. If there is a specific area that you want to comment on, for example legacy fundraising, you can go directly to that section and submit your response.
What do the different parts of the consultation cover?
Part A
- Outlines the key themes such as principles-based rules and areas where we are not the lead regulator.
- In this part, you will be able to comment on our overall approach to the code review.
Part B
- Identifies areas where we believe the code could be expanded to address changes in fundraising approaches and technology since the last code review in 2019.
- Contains questions on broader topics which may not be included in the revised code, but where we would like to hear feedback from fundraisers.
Part C
- A list of current code rules where minor changes are required to address specific issues. This is important information for fundraisers and is intended to address gaps in code rules which we have been informed of earlier in this process.
- If you are happy with a proposed change in this part, you can simply respond ‘yes’ and continue to the next proposal.
- Contains proposed changes to the glossary.
Part D
- Contains the proposed changes for every section of the current code. This is the longest section of the consultation.
- Part D shows what we have planned and helps you understand how the revised code could be presented.
- We don’t expect many respondents to comment on every section of part D. As with all parts of the consultation, there are no required questions, and you can respond to as many or as few as you choose.
The consultation includes examples of how we could revise specific rules to fit the principles-based approach. Please note that these are examples and do not represent what will appear in the updated code.
We have made every effort to make the consultation accessible. If you require an alternative format, or if you would prefer to submit in another way please contact us.
