The Fundraising Regulator has appointed Paul Winyard as its new Head of Policy, following a rigorous open recruitment process.
Paul first joined the regulator in April 2021 as our Policy Manager, following four years as Policy Manager for the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO).
As Head of Policy, Paul will oversee our policy development function which shapes and guides good fundraising practice in the UK. This includes making sure that the Code of Fundraising Practice remains fit for purpose by leading the two-year review of the code between 2022-24, producing guidance to support fundraisers to meet the code standards, and developing opportunities for the charity sector and public to engage with matters relating to charitable fundraising.
Paul has worked in the voluntary sector for over a decade. He has experience as a Programme Manager for a charity which worked to build strong relationships between the voluntary sector and Government, as well as various policy roles at NCVO and Volunteering England.
Gerald Oppenheim, Chief Executive of the Fundraising Regulator, said:
“I’m delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Winyard as our Head of Policy. Paul has substantial experience of working in a policy environment and his appointment is testament to the excellent leadership and management skills he has shown in his time as our Policy Manager. I look forward to continuing to work with Paul as we deliver our strategy to support fundraising regulation for the future.”
Speaking about his new role, Paul Winyard said:
“I’m delighted by my recent appointment as Head of Policy and relish the opportunity to support and promote best practice in charitable fundraising. I look forward to working with charitable fundraisers and the sector, to make sure our policy work is both innovative and intelligent in the years to come.”
